I'm looking at buying an 08 base model with an LS3 with only 28k. It looks like it has been babied. It has been sitting on a lot for several months. I was not able to drive it on the open road to make it cool down. I notice that the temp around town was edging toward 220... it didn't get there, but wasn't far from it. Is this a normal temp for this motor?
It shouldnt "get hot" running around town. They can warm up sitting at stoplights in warm weather, ac on stuff like that. Almost every gen vette is like that
See if you can drive it again and put a few hwy miles on it. Sales guys love to do the 3 block test drive thats simply not enough to get a feel for things.
Mid 90's this week here and at highway speeds my car was running 198. Stop and go traffic gets it in the 217 range.
The temps you saw sound fine to me.

110' here yesterday and I was running at 193-194 hwy, then 208 at intersections then cool back down when running at 70mph.
So yeah what the OP saw was not uncommon especially in hot locations
