Default T56 won't go into reverse when cold/sitting

2002 Firehawk with 22k miles can't get into reverse on cold starts and forward gears seem stiffer then usual. Once car is warm it will go into reverse but I have to muscle it in. What could be wrong? Thanks folks.

Remove the reverse lock solenoid from the trans, plug the hole, leave it still connector to the connector so your not getting codes, and see if that solves the problem with the car cold, sitting still/ not driving the car. If yes, then you can either replace the solenoid with a new one, or you can pull it apart to lessen the tension on the plunger main spring instead. Hence as the trans warms up, it reduces the tension on the solenoid plunger main spring a touch, and could be the difference.

If no, and since it sounds like it more of a shifter linkage problem with all forward gears, would pull the shifter off the top of the trans, and check for problem with the top shifter plate assembly. also, the shifter plate assembly has a plastic ball that is sistered on the top plate between some rubber type plates (under the boot), and working grease into the ball and plates from both the top and bottom of ball will allow the shifter to shift a hell of lot smoother.

From there, power power flush the clutch fluid. Hence with the age of the fluid, has pulled in a lot of water from humidity in the air, and water contaminated fluid is going to cause problems.
Also, make sure that the trans has fluid to the bottom of the fill line port since with a trans that old and that amount of sitting, can kind of bank that one input/output seals is starting to dry up, and may be leaking fluid out of the trans.

FYI, still trying to figure out why you posted this question in a Corvette forum, since the TA guys should have been able to dial you in on the problem/solution since the T56 shifter linkage used in the C6, is not the same T56 used in the TA's..
