Default LS2 -> LS3 engine harness compatibility

Consider this scenario: an otherwise good 2006 Z51/MZ6/LS2 car with a blown motor, and, say, a wrecked 2008 Z51/MZ6/LS3 donor car with a good motor.

Can the 2006 LS2 + engine harness + ECM simply be removed and replaced with the 2008 LS3 + engine harness + ECM? Will the 2008 setup plug-and-play with the rest of the 2006 wiring (chassis harness, BCM, etc.)? Any gotchas to know about?

There's no need to change the harness - some tuning tweaks, a couple pigtails, use the LS3 MAF and air intake and you'll be good to go.

This is basically all I had to do when putting an LS7 in my 2007.

Thanks for the reply. For the purposes of my question, though, do you know if an '08 engine harness would connect up to the '06 chassis? If so, this would avoid any modifications, and it's already in place.

If I had to guess I would think the BCM might not play nice with the different harness.

Is there any reason you don't just leave the 2006 harness in there?

I would drop both powertrains out the bottom with their engine harnesses attached.
