I'm new to the C6 world. I recently purchased a 2010 coupe to go along with my 72 coupe. Wow, what a difference from the vintage era. Question is about the ambient air reading in the console. It reads 75 constantly, which I think is default. I tried the 3 button reset method. Nope. Then I replaced the sensor. It still reads 75. What else do I check? Would it help to disconnect the battery to reset everything? thanks

Have you driven the car since you replaced the sensor. It takes a while before it will read the correct temp. "see below"
If you have driven the car since the sensor replacement, and as long as the sensor is plugged in correctly, the reset should have fixed the issue. You can , as a last attempt to disconnect the battery, which may reset the main A/C heater temperature controller below the radio/Nav unit.
If all that doesn't fix the issue, you may be looking at a faulty main temperature controller. From the owner's manual This sensor reads the outside air temperature and helps to maintain the temperature inside the vehicle. Any cover on the front of the vehicle could give a false reading in the temperature. If the outside temperature goes up, the displayed temperature will not change until:
• The vehicle’s speed is above 10 mph (16 km/h) for five minutes.
• The vehicle’s speed is above 32 mph (52 km/h) for two and a half minutes.
These delays prevent false readings. If the temperature goes down, the outside temperature will be shown when you start the vehicle. If it has been turned off for less than three hours, the temperature will be recalled from the previous vehicle operation. There is also an inside temperature sensor located to the left of the ignition switch. The automatic climate control system uses this sensor to receive information, so if you block or cover it, the system will not function properly.
thanks 4SUMERZ, I disconnected the battery last night hoping to reset it. It didn't do any different. I drove 220 miles today, still no different. So I will do some more testing and look into the main controller.
if you pressed front and rear defrost along with fan speed up or down all at same time it will update temp display instantly.is that how you are doing it?check that your sensor harness plug is fully seated
That's the way I've done the 3 button reset. No change. I checked the sensor plug, its solid. I've disconnected the battery for a day or two and will see if it makes any changes. If not, I will assume its the main temp controller.
thanks
I wanted to do a follow-up. I got caught in the rain this morning (first time since ownership) and notice the air temp gauge went to -28. This made me think that my problem was not in the main controller since moisture was effecting it. I put the car on a lift and closely inspected the wiring and harness. I found the wires were broken. Did the repairs and all is working fine now. thanks
