Default Wheel bs help!!!!

Alright guys I need somebody who knows quite a bit about this because I’m on a time crunch! Ordering some wheels for my 2006 c6 barrow body/base model. I plan on running a Hoosier 28” bias ply and have decided I want to run a 17” race star wheel. I found a forum where a guy was talking about the proper back spacing and I’ll copy it into this thread so you know what he’s referring to ( work with me I don’t now much about wheels, offset and backspacing). Summit racing is currently having a pretty killer deal on wheels so I need to know fast before the deals are up!

“The wheels sizes you need are part# 92-795253 DSD for the rear and 92-745245DSD for the front. Both of these wheels will fit your coupe without spacers if you are still using Z-51 or base brakes. If you are using the Z06 style brakes you will need spacers to clear the brakes. Racestar also has a 17x9.5 wheel part # 92-795254 DSD that came out recently that will put a little more of the tire under the rear fenders since it has 1" more rear backspacing. “

I found the fronts no problem and are a great price. However I found the 92-795254DSD-58 for $315 a wheel. I then found the 92-792253G for $201 a piece. THey are both 17x9.5 and in my bolt pattern, only difference is the backspacing on 254D (which is what the guy said I should run) is a 7.5 BS and the 253G is a 6.875BS.

With that all being said, will the 253G with 6.875 BS fit under my car with a 28” Hoosier bias ply?? Will I see any problems or cons to this wheel compared to the more expensive one? If I’m understanding this correctly, the cheaper wheel will stick out further which then puts me in the situation that my tire won’t fit inside my wheel well or may rub when launching at the track. But if i can run the cheaper wheel without problems then I will Definetly go with the cheaper wheel. Who wouldn’t want to save $200! I just don’t understand why there is a $100 difference per wheel if they’re sold from the same place, same lug pattern, same size, just slightly different backspacing

Let me save you a lot of grief and money, since you clearly don't understand what works well for your car.

Just buy a couple of 9.5 x 17 wheels in either the C4 style (salad spinners, sawblades, A-molds) or C5 Z06 fronts. Those are in order of decreasing weights, with the salad spinners at 22# and the Z06 fronts at 19#. The prices range from $50 for a nearly junk salad spinner to $350+ for a perfect Z06 wheel. Then buy the Hoosier drag radial HO17330 P275/40R-17. That tire/wheel combo will handle all the power you'll get out of your car, short of going to power adders (FI, NOS). They'll fit your narrow body car with whatever brakes (JL9, J55, J56) you want. (JL9 are the lightest) Don't bother with front skinny wheel/tires (your stock ones are fine) until you are close to running 10's. Since your goal is to run 11.50, you can easily do that for $1000 less than what is in your current plan.
