Valve cover bolt torque specs.
LS3 valve cover bolts ? What should they be torqued to ?
Or is it like the old school. Just tighten and then one more turn??
Thanks

Page 6-14 of my 2006 Service Manual agrees. Torque spec for the "Valve Rocker Arm Cover Bolts" is 106 lb in. I strongly suspect the LS3 is exactly the same.
They're squishing a rubber seal anyway so the whole thing is pretty loosey-goosey.

Man 106 seems like a lot to me on those small long bolts.

lb’s INCH. Finger tight.
Too tight and they will snap off in the head. Then you may get to pull the head. Ask me how I know. LOL.

Aren't the heads aluminum? How did you manage to snap off the bolt before stripping the threads?

I have broken one of these bolts before. I was torquing with a proper torque wrench to the 106 in-lb. For whatever reason, the wrench never clicked and the bolt broke. I think the bolt must have been weak to begin with because it did not take much force at all. Luckily, the broken part unthreaded from the head very easily.
