Default Electrical Quirks... or Big Problems?

Hello everyone,

I've had my car for about three weeks now, and some electrical funny business has occurred - albeit only a few times. Quirks of this car, or issues of larger problem?
  1. About to set off; I put the car in 1st, and release the clutch. Suddenly, the speedometer winds out to 200 mph, then back down to my actual speed, which is roughly 5 mph. This has happened twice.
  2. Airbag light comes on intermittently, but then goes out on its own. Sometimes it turns off while the car is on, and other times it turns off only after restarting the car.
  3. Intermittent "No Fob Detected" - car won't start, but will if I wait a few minutes or switch the accessory mode on and then off.
    • Changed the battery in the fob, and this seems to have solved the problem! Just thought I would mention it, though, as maybe it has some relation to the aforementioned issues.
Thoughts?

Thank you!

AIrbag light is common. There is a big yellow plug under the seat for the airbag that is not quite tight enough. Take a plastic cable tie and wrap it around the plugs and cinch it up tight to pull them together. You should be good after that.

#2 I think it's a recall out there too address that issue.

#3 you may get that if you have your fob is in your pocket with your cell phone, keys or anything else. You may want to have it in your pocket with nothing in it or take it out of your pocket when approaching your cat

Default Update

1. Speedometer jumped to 200 again today while starting off slowly from a dead stop!!

2. Thanks for the tips on the airbag light...I'll look into the zip tie fix soon!

3. Key fob battery replacement completely solved this issue!!

1. Is a loose dash connector, or corrode pin connections that is causing the dash cluster to reset, or a cold solder joint in the dash cluster that is causing the problem.
Would pull the cluster out of the dash to clean and reconnect the connector, as well as pulling the BCM and ECM connector to give them a good cleaning as well.
Also, would pull the battery to get to the C180 connector that is about mid level of the battery on the passenger fender wall to give it a cleaning as well.

2 Is just needing to use a Zip tie on the connectors under the seat. Hence with the seat moving up and back, the connectors can catch on the carpet over time to cause them to slightly unplug.

3, Is fob battery, but go one farther to pull the fob all the way apart to give it a good douching electrical contract cleaning and get the lint out of the buttons as well. Hence battery prongs to board contact points can foul and cleaning them solves a lot of problems.
