Default Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement

I've been doing some troubleshooting on an erratic engine temp gauge & DIC readout (not reading an overheat but wildly moving ~30 degrees between 165-195 in a matter of seconds, and getting a "check coolant level" warning). I believe the best place to start is the coolant temp sensor. It looks like space is tight but accessible without pulling the alternator, but not positive. Did some searching and couldn't find a writeup or video. Any thoughts on if anything else needs to come off to access? I 'll have a pan ready to catch coolant and know the new sensor gets torqued to 15ft-lbs and needs thread sealer. Any other watchouts?

I'm not sure of the mm socket you need I'm thinking 13 mm....But it only takes a few minutes .Remove the old one and put the new one in FAST and you will only lose a tiny bit of coolant which you can add some more if needed...My new one came with thread sealer.
