Hey guys was up
i have a question my corvette runs good no problem
but when I turn it off like let’s say at the store and I come back after a few minutes
the temperature of the engine will be at around 230-235 once the car starts the fans kick in at high speed and will cool down . But if I leave it the engine will just heat soak I haven’t seen any temperature higher than 235 is this normal it’s a 2006 c6 6.0
i was told (by people that would know a lot better than me) that an engine is hottest roughly 20 to 30 minutes after you turn it off.
Made sense to me, once the coolant stops flowing and the fans stop cause you turn off the engine, all the heat rises towards the top of the engine and is trapped in the engine compartment by the hood. then it starts cooling down as expected.
