c6 6-speed w/paddle shifter

are the any belts or anything rubber in the transmission every once in a while if cruising around in 1st or 2nd gear a get a large burning rubber smell

Not aware of anything rubber inside the transmission. How many miles on your car? What kind of driving, racing, etc. There are lot's of other things it could be including AC or ACC belts could be loose or starting to get worn. A glycol leak which may be dripping on the belts, causing them to slip. etc etc.
It is very hard to troubleshoot without actually smelling it in person, or at least try to find the cause.
It's most likely not the transmission if it has never been tortured.

tyvm 4sumerz i feel better now it has 40k miles and just normal driving so maybe just at higher rpm's i have a fan belt slipping. i just notice it every once in a while
