Default P300 Random Misfire SOLVED!

First I would like to thank another member on the forum for his input and pointing me in the right direction. If you are getting a P300 random misfire code, and the car doesn’t act like anything is wrong then this is for you. For 3 months I was chasing this issue and started with the normal things like plugs, wires, etc. Didn’t fix it! Took it to a local speed shop, they said I used the wrong plugs! (Whatever, they were OEM replacements!) and they put it on the Dyno, and it checked out with plenty of power! 3 days later...P300 again. Tried my best over next few weeks, trouble shooting, monitoring fuel trims, put in a new alternator thinking it was a power issue, changed a few sensors then gave up and took it to a Corvette specialist here in Houston. He went through a lot of different things over 3 weeks and as usual after a little driving it would come back! After searching in the forum again I came across a post on the forum and called the mechanic with what I had read. I told him to pull and check the torque tube. He said it’s not making any noise and they usually do if they are bad, and the mileage is still low on your car. He pulled it and said it was so bad that he couldn’t even press it apart. Had to get an entire new set up. So, if you’re having a hard time tracking down what may be causing your issue, check the torque tube. Not saying it will save you money, but it might save some time!!

Thanks for sharing this info! but you might want to edit "P0300" so it can be searched easily in the future. What was the issue with the torque tube the coupler or bearings?

I can only assume. I was told after they removed it that they were not able to disassemble it, even with a press.
