From what I’ve read on my 2005 Z51 models it’s a transmission fluid temperature sensor and only warns on DIC if overheat or low temp. Cannot bring up trans temp. Weird issue I have is I absolutely DO NOT have a wire from harness to connect to that sensor. A vendor said I should but I don’t. Maybe someone added that on my car for an external temp gauge. I believe on 2006 and up it became part of DIC. I’m not sure though.

Mine is a 6 Speed also. I’m hoping someone else will chime in as to why I have a transmission temp sensor on a 05 6 Speed but NO connection from harness.

I have a '05 Z51 MN6 and I have the temp sensor AND the connection from the harness. The Z51 has a trans cooler, maybe that's why I have it. I find it hard to believe that GM would put a sensor in the trans and not use it. I broke mine with I replaced the clutch and, if I remember, a new sensor was about $30.

Yes mine is a 05 Z51 also with extra coolers. This is the most bizarre issue I’ve came across not having a connector from the harness. I’m stumped
The temp wire comes from a wire bundle that is on top of the transmission and difficult to see. Perhaps some body cut it or left it up there. Also if I remember the 05 (only) has two reverse lockout connections that look every similar.
