For a street driven, stock bottom end (factory clearances) C6, 4,5, or 7 for that matter
(except the 4 Cam C4 ZR1) The AMSOIL Signature Series 5W-30 has been tested &
proven the Best. That said Mobil 1 while not the same as in the past has delivered
protection for 300,000 miles and beyond and is certainly acceptable for the majority
of Corvette owners.
The best you can buy? Redline oil.
Schaeffer's Oil with a close second.
The best oil for your C6? For a stock street car, any synthetic meeting the oil specs.
^^^^This is what GM recommends. As far filters any "premium" filter will do. Such as Mobile 1, Purolator Boss, etc. There are a number of oil filter tear down videos and there is a real junk out there.
I've been using Mobil One since the '70's and I've driven several vehicles well past 100,000 miles. I have never had an engine problem or even noticed signs of wear on the engine. YMMV

Mobil1 5w-30, and really just monitor the oil and do changes as needed when it comes dirty or run for a year.
On the C6, its 12K or every year, and if you are changing the motor oil every year even without reaching 12K, the Mobil1 5w-30 is fine.
We can get into the pissing match of which oil may be better than another, but its really not the motor oil itself when you get into synthetics, but the dirt-crap in the oil itself the problem instead. And when I bring up dirt-crap, this includes unburnt fuels and water, that may not being burnt out of the fuel is your running a low temp T stat instead.
Hence lets say that Redline is a better oil than Mobil1 5w-30 itself. The glitch here would be changing the Mobil1 5w-30 yearly as required even if less than 12k Miles, verses trying to get the full 12K out of the redline due to cost, that could be containing the crap pointed out above through the motor for years on end instead.

Red Line is one of the few Group 4 Ester oils out there. I use it in all 5 of my vehicles.
Just use any full synthetic oil that meets the GM spec for your specific year engine and you will be fine. Use a good filter and change annually; I personally don't go over 7k miles before I change my oil. I personally use Pennzoil Platinum because it's readily available and has proven to hold up well against shear. I have a buddy who has used Walmart Supertech synthetic for years and put over 300k miles on a Corolla.
Walmart Supertech synthetic 10/30 oil for my 2012 G.S. Corvette that I put on less than 3k a year at $18.00 for 5qt. And based on the container labeling it exceeds all of GM oil requirements for 2012 GM products. NAPA Silver oil filter.

How often do you change your oil and filter? I was doing it yearly since I put on 5,000 per year but now I am daily driving for the first time so how low do you let your oil monitor go down to what percentage before changing both oil and filter?

My 2005 c6,LS2,my 1st Vette I purchased April of last year. In the year I only put about 1500 miles on Vette. There is more than 1 of the Mobil 1 oil. I narrowed it down to 2 using the guide on Mobil's web site. They are both 5w-30. 1st is what they call Advanced Full Synthetic.2nd which I chose is Annual Protection, Ultimate Full Synthetic for 1 year. Looks like it is best ? Both meet GM spec 4718m. Both are dexos approved gen2. For gas engines. Their are others like for high mileage cars, mine has only 16,000 so not that one.Confusing, but I chose the 2nd.Hopefully the correct oil. Mobil has a comparison chart & looks to me to be the best for my car ? I hope !!
Any oil that meets the minimum GM specifications for your car is the best oil.
I go with Mobil 1 Synthetic because I can get a 5 quart container at Wal-Mart for $26. But most name brand synthetic oils are quite amazing.
Heck, even Amazon Basics synthetic and SuperTech synthetic oils (made by the same company) are excellent oils.
More importantly, I recommend disregarding the oil life monitor. Change the oil every 3,000 miles or a least once a year even if you don't hit 3K.
Sure you can go 10K miles on a change but a 3k mile oil change is the cheapest, best insurance you can buy for keeping your engine clean and new internally that you can get.

I would have agreed with the 3k mile change interval 20 years ago. Any quality full synthetic is vastly superior to oil from 20 years ago. A 5k mile change interval is plenty conservative in my estimation. Your car, your decision.

I have 78,000+ miles now and have just been using the original Mobil one 5W-30 GM SPEC 4718 since 2005 changed annually for 14 years with UPF 44 Premium AC/Delco Oil filter (Black and gold heavier oil filter).
I have not heard of that second type of Mobil One high mileage oil if it exists? What is the oil weight?
Now since I daily drive it I am sure I will do oil changes more frequently. I could go back to the 3,000 mile rule as I did on my other car before and got 267,000+ miles.
When this Corvette was not a daily driver I changed oil around 70% was the lowest maybe even 60% per Oil Monitor (5,000+ miles) was the lowest for all of those years. (have to check records).

Go to Costco and you can get a case (when on sale) for $28.00 then you get 6 quarts instead of 5.

Tested by SAE guys and chemical engineers.....GM uses Mobil for one reason....they made a lucrative business deal between both companies. Nothing wrong with using Mobil or any other full synthetic oil, especially if it’s just a stock set up used for cruising and weekend driving. With that said and you’d like the “best” look up some of the testing....far better oil out there than Mobil that’s for sure.

It just has a higher level of additives in it so that the oil lasts longer before they are depleted. Doesn't cost much more to use it, and it has better performance than regular Mobil 1.
