Help! Trunk won't open with key.
Battery is dead and the trunk won't open with the key. Has slight resistance when you turn it but that's it.
Was an amazing day weather wise and couldn't drive the car....

Has been reported elsewhere on this forum that the cable or whatever mechanism connects the lock to the latch is either broken, become disconnected, or was never connected at the factory. Having said that, be sure you are turning the key all the way - 1/4 turn I believe. There are other threads if you search explaining how you might get into the car if the trunk key doesn't work. Attaching a battery charger to the +ve post on the starter solenoid and to a grounding point was mentioned.

Thanks for the replies, I've had to use the key in the trunk before so know it used to work. And it turned at least 1/4 turn.
Know of any diagrams on how the trunk cable should run?
My jack pads are in the trunk do will use some wood to space the jack. Will a jumper box work?

Already tried the pushing down on the trunk lid.
The key turns fine a full 1/4 turn, slight resistance to turn without the pop when it releases the trunk.
My floor jacks are too high so off to Harbor Freight to get a low profile. Not many other places to get one since Sears closed.

Key turns fine. Think others are right about the latch being disconnected.
Jacked the car up, hooked a charger to starter, was about to get door open. Battery was 4v, at Advanced to get tested now.
