Default Hood louvers options

I know I’m not allowed to specifically mention vendors but I thought everyone should know there are far cheaper options for hood louvers then the regular vendor everyone uses. I did have to assemble them and paint them myself but it wasn’t very hard and I think they turned out awesome. This guy just cuts them and ships them flat. Am I allowed to say the company name or not?

I guess the moderators can delete this if I’m not allowed to mention a specific vendor. I got them fro V Raptor Speedworks. They were $139 shipped. They seemed to be fairly precisely cut and I had them 3 or 4 days after I ordered them. I did have to pay through PayPal though which I think ended up raising the price a little.

So how scary is it cutting huge holes in your hood?

What did you use to cut the hood?

They look good on your car :-)

Pretty sure you can name names, you just cant link their website, FB page, etc.

How does the center brace stay in place once you bent the louvers? Is it held by rivets?

Since they ship flat it wasn’t to bad to lay them on the hood and tape lines for the holes. I just used a high speed with a cut off wheel and an air saw for the rounded corners. Holding them in place to drill the holes for the rivets is a little tricky. But if you put one or two rivets to hold it in place while you drill the rest it’s not to bad.

Is this the same V Raptor Speedworks that started doing the Factory Five GTM stuff?

These vents look pretty good. To be honest, they look like a copy of the TrackSpec vents at nearly half the price. Even the dimensions are almost the same. Can't find metal thickness info but I imagine they are pretty close as well. Main difference appears to be the factory coating and sticker.

They could at least come up with their own design instead of copying someone else. Thats the stuff I dont care for. Thats stealing others work. Im all for competitive pricing and product development but this is just a bootleg.

To be fair, I don't know if it is a copy of a design. V Raptor has certainly been around longer than TrackSpec but I recall TrackSpec having these to market first. To me, it certainly looks like the two are too similar to think there is not some design inspiration occurring.

I can get some dimensions if someone else can get some dimensions of the trackspec louvers. They look very similar to me. But then again, there isn’t a ton of different ways to build an aluminum hood louver. And when I was looking around for a cheaper option to the trackspec the shape has to follow the lines of the hood or it looks weird so I don’t think there are a lot of options on shape either.

If I remember, I can get the track spec dimensions. I have a set coming in today. If I would have known about these, I would have gone with them instead and saved $200.

I went to their website, and they have a picture of a red C6Z with what is supposed to be their vents...uhhh, except the second photo you can see the trackspec logo on the center vent. I even right clicked the image on their website and it goes to save as trackspec louver installation.

I like this mod.
Yet too "scary" for me to open a hood hole in my street car.
Looks great...for art, FWIW I would paint the bolt/ screw heads black too.
Again, I like this functional mod !

What holds the center rib to the bottom of the angled louvers? I see slits in the center rib to locate the louvers, but do you glue them together, tack them together?
