Default Exhaust backfire?

I drive my GS maybe a couple times a month & drove it the other day after about 3 weeks. I noticed a lot of popping/backfiring coming from the exhaust on every shift and every time I let off the gas.

‘12 GS M6 with LG 1-3/4 longtubes, high-flow cats & Corsa Xtreme axle-back. Car has been tuned & has 37k miles. It would gurgle/pop slightly on deceleration or downshifting before but this recent drive it was downright annoying.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

That's typical of the exhaust set up you have. I'm running AR Headers, X-pipe with hi-flo cats & Corsa Sport mufflers. Same crackling & popping on downshifting & deceleration & I LOVE IT!

It comes with the territory. LoL Hence why some people stay with a NPP setup or go back to one.

I understand there is some of this to be expected considering this set up has been on the car since last September, however, there was a significant difference in the amount of backfiring this time vs previous times I've driven the car (i.e. every time I let up on the gas vs not really doing that previously). Just wondering if something like an exhaust leak or similar could cause it that's all.

Thanks,

Check your plugs to see if the iridium tip is gone. That's one of several causes.

How long have you had the Corsa sports? Maybe their broken in all the way. They do get louder the longer you drive them. Also check and make sure your plug wires are all the way snapped on and secure or check them out because sometimes they may look like they are all the way on and may not be and you may not get a CEL.

Thanks,
Exhaust leaks certainly can increase back firing.
