Unconnected hose identification

Unconnected hose identification
This is located on the passenger side of a 2008 Base C6 on the outboard side of the transmission. I can see where one end of the hose just ends as a vent. should this white connector have a hose connected to it or should it be left open to the atmosphere?

It's a vent for the A6 transmission
