I'm curious what all is different with the rotors for the 15in conversion kits. I'm looking at the Carlyle kit and see all the components that it includes which is great. However I already have really nice lightweight aluminum top hat 2 piece rotors. I'm wondering if anyone knows if I could just use smaller diameter rings and reuse my top hats for the kit or if I need to use the one piece rotors included. These are the rotors i currently have on my GS.
You would have to speak to Carlyle to see if the offset of their rotor is the same as the stock rotor, and, if so, then it may be possible to cut your rotors down and use them. I doubt that it would be worth the trouble though. I didn’t actually check the offset or measure the difference in diameter when I did the swap myself, but I can tell you that the difference in weight of the stock rotor to the Carlyle rotor is: exactly 6.3 lbs. the stock rotor weighs 20 lbs and the Carlyle weighs 13.3 lbs.
Here’s a few pictures from when I ddI the install on my car: Big difference in diameter Carlyle rotor = 13.3 lbs Stock GS/ZO6 rotor = 20 lbs
bumping old thread and i loved you weighed the rotors... anyone out there weight the caliper too? looking for combined weight of caliper + rotor. sorry for old bump haha
