Cars an ‘06 with Z51 and has 45k on the odometer. It’s also S/C so has some additional weight on the front so it obviously sits a tad lower, I factored that in. We all know these cars ride low and speed bumps and what not are a pain the ***. Mine seems to drag a bit more then it did in the past, might be sagging more?
Not a lot of miles as it’s a summer weekend ride but it’s in NY and we have some pothole issues here as y’all know which contribute to shortening life of shocks. Curious what kind of miles you guys are getting out of the OE shock absorbers on your cars before replacement?
Two different FE3 front trans springs for the Z51 cars, and if you have a manual trans, then its the FE3 spring for the auto trans cars that you want to swap in to help with the added Front end weight from the S/C. The FE3 for the auto trans cars are a little stiffer than the manual FE3 spring.
As for shocks since the factory shock start to give up the ghost around 30K on the average, Choices are,
B8's that a touch better than the Z51 shocks for street use,
The Koni Fsd that do a little better than the B8's on off-camber corners that have light surface chop for street use,
Then the DRM's shocks with poly bushings that are B8's with different/stiffer dampening and keep you more flat in the corners than the two above shocks instead. They are a little more for track use than street since they will be dampened a little bit more stiff than the above two instead.
As for when you do install new shocks (and maybe change out the FE3 front spring) , re-corner balance and make to have all 4 wheel realigned. Also to add, with the age of some of the C6's, not a bad idea to change out the ride height adjusters on the trans springs before you re-corner balance since they may be mushroomed or dry rotting instead.
