2008 vette, automatic
the 6l80 seems to be on its last leg and I am thinking about purchasing a low mileage one from another 08
My question will I need to get the transmission programmed for the car to run after install?
See you have a 408 with a pro charger. Just a suggestion, you’re putting out a lot more power then stock. I lost my A6 some months back and sent it off to Circle D in Houston for a rebuild. They beef it up and add extra clutch plates to strengthen it.
Who knows how long a used unit will last with your extra power. Just a suggestion.

You have two options.
1) Pull the valve body and TCM from your existing transmission and install it in the replacement one - this will not require any programming.
2) Use the valve body and TCM from the replacement transmission - this will require the use of a Tech 2 scanner to program the VIN into the TCM.
If the replacement came out of a car with the same gear ratio in your car now you could potentially get away with not needing the Tech 2 as it'll run the same. If however you ever plan on having the car tuned using HP Tuners or EFIlive then it will need to be programmed with a Tech 2.
thanks this helps
sorry I need to update my profile that was my old setup when I had a c5
now my c6 has bolt-ons and ported heads, cam. I plan to add a yank converter now
I am using hp tuners
