Newbie - 3rd Question Ever
Had mine for 3 months now.. So much help here.. I did not see this specific topic..
I will need to replace my windshield.. Did I hear that you don't need to replace with a "HUD" windshield?? A normal windshield is just fine?
HUD is not working. It's mirror is knocked off.. Is there anyway to access it from up top? I have seen the video of how to access through the dash cluster and was planning to do that in the next couple months... But, Safelite is coming out and I spoke with the tech and he is ok with me messing with it while he preps...
Planning to pull the center speaker and replace the grill as well while the access is good...
Any ideas??

You can replace the HUD glass with a non HUD one, some people say that they can see some "ghosting" or fuzziness of the image, others say not. If you are paying out of pocket then I would put in the non HUD glass, but if your insurance company is paying then get the HUD glass.

To fix the HUD the dash will have to come out. You can't access it when the windshield is out.
Do not do the cut the duct method to get the HUD out. Take the extra effort and remove the dash, it is not that bad. It does take 2 people to get the dash out.
