I have a 2008 c6 and a 2012 grand sport conv.
I live here in sunny myrtle beach south carolina.
Was thinking about a z06 oil cooler for each.
At ambient temp outside at 60f the oil temp is 216f.
Summer im not sure but know it is much higher.
Anyone know what is best ball park oil temp is for it to be best?
Was told oil can be to cool...Thanks for any input.
My stock 08 m6 in SoCal runs 200f coolant, 230f oil, 40-45 pressure year round. There is a sleight variation in extreme temps.--105f at 90mph in Tx. raised both temps a little.
You want oil temp to exceed 100 deg c so that it can boil off any condensation / water that’s in the oil.
A lot of people think that , but fact is oil will not really have much water in it to begin with and at 190-degree temp or greater water will EVAPORATE quickly from the oil . Ever watch water evaporate from a pot as it gets closer to boiling point . Boiling water is just a rapid state of evaporation . I personally like to see oil temps in the 180 range- 190 and no more than 200 on a street vehicle driven moderately . In race engines ( especially road race cars ) oil temps will get way higher .
