I going to be installing new Kooks 1" 7/8 headers but i want to know if its a good idea to wrap them. I see a lot of photos of engine bays and very seldom do i see headers wrapped. The X pipe is 3 " High flow cats. I know this will cut heat down, gas temps will go up to help the exhaust scavenging effects. Will this make the headers push the heat to the cats and cause problems? Any thoughts on this?

I wrapped mine, but then I do a lot of foolish things...
Not so much for the heat, but to try to reduce the noise level.
Didn't worry too much about them cracking, but do worry about oil leaks soaking the wrap and catching fire.
I had a set of cheap E Bag stainless headers on my last car for over 10 years. It didn’t get driven in the winter but occasionally in the rain. They were in perfect shape when I sold the car.
Just bare cheap stainless steel.
You can coat them yourself with CeraKote ultra-high-temp coating (specifically made for exhaust systems) for around $150 total investment including the sandblasting equipment, sprayer, etc.. I called Jet-Hot and was quoted like $750 for the headers and x-pipe, not including shipping costs.
I've been really happy with the results. I think my under-hood temperatures are much better than before and I think corrosion resistance and looks are way better than uncoated.
