Default Non Run Flats for Base Model C6

I recently had an A&A supercharger put on my Base C6 - 2008 A6. The Eagle GT run flats - which may be the original tires - are not making it. I am looking at Michelin Pilot Sport 4S non run flats. I need a stickier tire, that rides well and is relatively quiet.
Anyone have these tires or have any other recommendations?

Thx

I can't blame you for wanting to replace the GoodYear RF's. They are probably the worse tire for noise, wet road traction, and also tread wear that there is for any tire. Tire rack rates Goodyear Runflats very badly, as suggested by the terrible user reviews.
Any tire, especially non runflats, will be like night and day, as it was when I got rid of the Goodyear RF's. I couldn't believe the difference in all facets.
To your question:
I put the Michelin PS 4S tires on in the Spring and put 6000 miles on them this running season. They are a nice riding tire, smooth ride, great traction, both dry and wet. They are rated the top tire in the non runflat platform and rightly so. I've worn 2/32" off the tread in those 6000 miles, so I expect they will need changing in or around 25K miles.
My last 3 sets of non runflats on my C6 were the older style Firestone Indy 500's, which I really liked for many of the same reasons as the Michelins, but at a reduced price.
Since the Indy 500's changed their tread pattern a few years ago, the rating was not as good as with the older tread design, hence why I switched.

I was averaging about 25K miles on the Indy 500's as well. We do alot of road trips (80K miles) so with long days of driving on hot pavement, maybe the tread wear is more because of those reasons. Some say they get 50K miles on tires...I wish I had their secrets. I've never had any tire, on any of my vehicles get that many miles ever!!!

I put a set of Kumho Ecsta PS-91 high performance summer tires on my base this past spring. Love them. Tirerack tested them against the Michelins and they were equal except for in the rain. Hooked better than the Nitto NT005r drag radials I had on too. Were only around $700 mounted and balanced at Discount Tire too. Rode quietly. Handled nicely too. Two Thumbs up from me.

I agree, love mine and won't run anything different on my car, BUT they last only 8k miles or so, are noisy at speed and not comparable to my old Pilots in the rain. I do live in a very dry climate (Vegas) and don't mind the noise though..

After I replaced the OEM Michelin RFs on my C7 to Michelin Pilot Sport AS3 non RFs, I'll never go back to RFs again. I can't wait to wear out the Goodyear RFs on the 09 C6 I just bought. I'll replace them with the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4s non RFs.

I've gone through 2 sets of nitto invos and they were smooth and quiet. Some of my friends had tried the Michelin 4s and were happy so I went with those this time. The performance of the 4s is even better than the nitto. Traction, handling and appearance are very good. Newer technology so a step up.

That's good info. Thx-

Another question........ I have 245s on the front and 285s on the rear. It's not a wide body car so I would be limited in the tire width. I have after market rims from a previous owner but I assume they are the factory stock width. Does anyone know how wide I could go front/back?
Like 255/295 or 265/305 with the current rims without rubbing problems? I don't know it will make that much of difference unless I could put 325s on the back - they are about 1.8 wider than the 285s. I'm at 542 RWHP now.

Any thoughts?

Thx

Unfortunately the Michelin PS4S 285s x 19 are on back order and of course Michelin has no ETA when they will be available. Anyone have the the Michelin Pilot Super Sports? The PS Cup 2s are too much $$$. Again just for warm weather, ride well, quiet and sticky in the dry.

I do know that PMCtire.com in Quebec Canada has them in stock, but I do not know if they ship to the US. They are in $442.00 $Can and because of the US-Can exchange rate, paying with $US would be at least 35% cheaper than listed on their site ($287.00 US per tire)
Good luck in your search

Yes, thanks I went on their site. PCM has them but they don't ship to the US.

That's too bad, I buy all my tires for my vehicles from them. Free shipping to anywhere in Canada, and cheaper than anywhere else. No one locally will price match them.
I used to buy from Tire Rack, send them to a US depot near the US-Can border, then pick them up there.
The $$ exchange is not condusive to using Tire rack at this time.
Hopefully you can find them soon.
They are a great tire.

I went with these and couldn't be happier so far as they stick great in the corners. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...ling%20Package
