Installing new header system on my C6. Last time I did headers on my old LS1 I just re-used the metal, multilayered, stock gaskets and they worked fine. I'm installing speed engineering stainless steel headers and they gave me some of those metal lined felt or something, not sure, but they look almost perforated on the metal and are thick, like maybe a 16th of an inch. Should I use them or should I just re-use the stock ones? Might sound like a dumb question but I hate header leaks!!

I also went with the Speed Engineering headers and the shop that installed them had three choices to make with the gaskets I provided, they went with my OEM ones and I haven't had an issue in two years now.
I have always used new OEM gaskets and OEM bolts. Clean the loctite off the bolts on a wire wheel and then use a small dab of anti seize on them. You will need to re torque after the first couple heat cycles. Never had a leak or a loose bolt.
So , with all the money you spend on Headers you want to cheap out with old gaskets? Buy a New set of OEM.
It's not about being cheap. They've been proven to reusable with 100% reliability if they're undamaged on removal since the invention of the LS1 engine.
