Default LS7 head milling ??? with BTR stage 3 cam.

Just checking to see. What is the most, anyone has milled LS7 stock, heads? And still use 93 pump gas, and not fly cut the pistons. I have talked to, a tech at BTR. and got two different answers. Was told I could mill .030 to .040 off the heads. And have good valve to piston clearance. Run 93 pump gas. With a stage 3 BTR cam.

Have any of you done this. The heads are at the machine shop. So any info would be great.

Thanks.

You can use .041 compressed head gasket mill .030 and end up with about 11.5 if you go more compression on pump may have to back down total initial wot timing here is a sample remember every 6 thousands you mill is a cc been removed for better results pay extra to have both heads cc’d and insist on equal cc for both heads.

Figure cc on stock heads at 69 for stock instead of 72 also if these heads are removed for first time assume stock if you bought them use cc them before you mill juuuust in case.

Thanks you. Just got a email from Brian Tooley. Not one of his techs. He said I could go .030 easy, with stock head gaskets. And his LS7 stage 3 cam. And if I really wanted to .040 would work. But make sure. I had a good tuner.

So thanks guys. And maybe this info, will help others in the future.

BADA you may already have the cam so disregard if so but I would have suggested tsp stage 3.5 cam straight up no advance this cam makes 600 at the tire factory intake manifold and t/body.

You’ll be fine, plenty of people mill .030” with big cams.

Not sure what the guy above was talking about, you’ll be at about 11.8 with .030 mill with stock .051 headgasket. 12.1 with .040 mill.
