I have a 2008 Z06 that I purchased which the previous owner had purchased a Vortex V3 Supercharger and cooling system. I was planning on doing the following to the engine to safe guard the engine. Not planning on running much over 6-7lbs of boost. The engine has about 65K miles. No previous history of any head/valve or cam work.
* Diamond Forged 4.135” Bore Pistons /-23cc Dish Centrifugal Stage 2 Blower Cam Lined & Honed Main Bearing Journals * Diamond Racing Piston Ring Set
* King Racing Main Bearing Set
* Custom Fitted External Oil Cooler w/APE Line Fittings
* Tri Metal King Racing Rod Bearing Set
* ARP Lifter LS7 GM performance Head Gaskets
* GM Performance Head Bolt Kit TSP 304
* Polished 1 7/8 American Racing Headers
* Full Borla S-Type II Exaust System.
* External Oil Cooler
I’m not planning on racing this car or track it.
Is there any other recommendations you would make for this build?
I wouldn't even consider dished pistons on a mild boost build. Doing that will kill your fuel eco, your responsiveness, and quite a bit of power. Absolutely no reason to do that. I'd use a set of forged pistons that are copies of the stockers. Don't know if the stockers have valve reliefs, but I'm make sure the forged replacements did have them.
Do those pistons fit oem rods? You should recoat the oem rods. You should do arp main studs and you should do arp head studs, arp cam bolts, arp balancer bolt. New balancer. All new oem gaskets everywhere. You should definitely have the reads worked if you are going through all this work. New headgaskets. Etc. It snowballs hard once you start, so good luck keeping the costs down if you want to do it right.
