I've downloaded numerous instructions (all slightly different) & watched a number of videos, but darn if I can even get into the programming mode for a new key fob.
Bought a 2011 C6 convertible - came with only Fob #2 - I purchased an OEM Fob #1, but when I take a stab at trying to program it I get nowhere.
When I follow numerous slightly different instructions, after turning the key 5 times I never hear a beep and see no display in the DIC.
Near as I can tell, I'll probably have to do the long reprogramming as the short version is just to add Fobs 3 & 4 - if I want to add Fob 1, have to go the long programming route.
Just called the local dealer - they say up to $90 to program a remote - I really don't want to shell out the money for something an owner should be able to do!
Still no go - only real thing different in the PDF I downloaded was to put the car in reverse (manual transmission) - the rest of the instructions seem to be the same as numerous one's I've scrounged up.
I'm starting slow - just trying to test the fob programming slot, but I have yet to be able to enter programming mode.
Turning the key in the trunk 5 times gets me squat - never enters programming mode - no beep, no DIC display.
Still a "no go" - his twist is to leave the working fob next to the shifter, so I tried that - the rest of the instructions are identical to about all I've downloaded so far.
Pretty simple steps just to test the fob programming slot as all I want at this point is to enter programming mode, but 5 turns of the trunk key still gets me squat.
I remember one person found that his cell phone was too close to the car while programming. I'd also post over in the general discussion. A lot of guys over there have been through this. Also, spray some 10W-40 in the trunk slot. I remember one person had dirt in there and wasn't making a good contact.

Spraying WD40 or any oil based product in a key hole is not a good idea. This will attract dirt and gum up the key hole. You should never use anything but graphite spray in a key hole.
