Hey folks I'm about to install my new summit harmonic balancer, i noticed that the old OEM balancer has a rubber and metal washer that sits on the back of the balancer where it is mounted on the crank snout. Is that rubber/metal washer required to be installed on the new or any aftermarket balancer? Thanks
That DEW washer is on there to help prevent the balancer from spinning on the crank.If the hb is spinning on the crank snout its going to be a costly repair.Some of the aftermarket hb's are not finish machined for the DEW.If the DEW doesn't fit you could pin the crank to prevent it from spinning.Did you check yet to see if it would fit?
that diamond washer wont fit on that summit balancer.
likewise that summit balancer will only fit wet sump engines. will not work on a ls7 or the dry sump ls3.
that summit balancer comes keyed and needs rtv in the slot if your crank isn't keyed to keep it from leaking oil.
