I know this subject has been beat to death but.....I am going to have to replace the Fuel Level sensor and the Fuel pump while I am at it in my C6 with 145K miles on it. The question I have is this, Is it necessary to replace the sending unit on both sides? I have no problem with fuel being used from both tanks ? Sorry I just couldn't find this question in the Kazillion posts on damn fuel tank.

The diagnostic process that led to your decision to replace a fuel level sender will have told you which sender is bad.
That said, at 145K miles, I would definitely replace both senders regardless. You're already committed to dropping the left tank to replace the pump. It's not that much more effort to drop the right tank.
Josephcat: I don't mean to hijack your thread, nor question your conclusion that you need new sending units, but did you have a situation like I did in my last post where I had to deal with an intermittent electrical connection on the fuel pump?

Wow! Good read and info to say the least! I am having the fuel level sensor replaced and because every once and awhile when starting the engine takes maybe 4 or 5 cranks (not start attempts ,1 attempt 4 or 5 cranks) my dealer after whatever diagnostics they did said it was the fuel pump. I have to have the level sensor replaced and at same time just decided to have the pump replaced as well. Having work done for much less then dealer at Zip Corvettes in Virginia who have done very good work for me in past . You do have me wondering about the harness however but with the miles I have (although the car looks new inside and out) i am going to talk to them about harness also.

Your intermittent fuel pressure issue is most likely the fuel pump wire that terminates at the relay on fuse block.
Next time the issue crops up either give a good wiggle to the harness under the fuse block and/or unplug and replug the relay.
Sledom do these pumps actually fail nor do they pump intermittently unless there's an electrical short.
