A month ago I noticed my 147k mile 2005 Corvette key fobs were suddenly working intermittently and hoping for any suggestions. When either key fob works, both will work, similarly when one doesn't neither will. It's very sporadic, for example leaving for work in the morning, it may work and in the evening when leaving it may not or vice versa.
I've tried all buttons and none will work on either fob when it's happening but the car will start strong every time when placed inside the glove compartment slot. I've read pocket electronics may cause interference so I've left everything on my desk and tried the key fobs alone when it's acting up but no change. I've found it's not specific to any particular location.
Things I've tried :
- Replaced both keyfob batteries with CR3032's CR2032 twice now.
- Cleaned terminals on both key fobs.
- Replaced car battery.
I've not replaced / reprogrammed the key fobs as I feel it's not the key fobs at this point as they're both functioning exactly the same. Unfortunately, it seems this leads me to a key fob receiver within the car? Thanks for any direction!
Edit 3/8 - Just last night I was researching old CF posts about our RCDLR and I stumbled on https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...n-your-c6.html which post #5 talked about the RCDLR relating to the key fob AND tire pressure monitor system. I thought that was interesting as I hadn’t had any issue with my tire monitors. Fast forward to this AM as I drove the car 100 miles and at the end of my drive “Service Tire Pressure Monitor” appeared on my dash or something similar and I now have XX on each tire.
Appears this is pointing to my RCDLR if this information is correct?
Edit 3/9 - Comical new information I've found again from Corvetteforum research, there's a thread I'll link that described an owner hitting the dash above where the RCDLR lives and restores functionality (temporarily). For giggles I just went to the car, key fob not working at this moment, sat inside and hit the dash a few times. Sure enough after 4 smacks above the RCDLR, the key fob was recognized and is functioning (for the moment), very strange.

I’ve had those exact symptoms whenever my battery was dead or on the verge. I know you said you replaced it but just thought I’d add my input.
I was really hoping this was going to be the case for me as well. I can test my new battery to be sure it’s good, haven’t noticed any other issues relating though.

I have the same symptoms - both fobs suddenly not working today after working fine yesterday. (original owner '05 Z51, 203K) The chances of BOTH fobs' batteries failing at the same moment is very remote (pun). I did hold the fobs in my hand so there would be no interference from anything else. I did get a new car battery 3 weeks ago with no issues. They both work fine in the glove slot. I even tried pounding on the dash at your recommendation (feeling foolish of course!). Ha! I did replace the RCDLR 11 years ago, but in that instance the car would not start at all - a hard failure. I will replace both fob batteries tomorrow and try again.
