That intake actually did have some turbulence issues. I helped develop the ZO6 filter media along side Donaldson.. Our C6 Z06 on the dyno all day. The higher flowing ZR1 filter saw a huge gain over the Z06 filter by 2 to 3 RWHP. In the end, we distributed 100 of the ZR1 filters for Donaldson, until GM stepped in and slammed the marketing door shut on our collaberation.

Turbulence "at the MAF read area" is all you need be concerned about. I am referring to surging at very low throttle position. You are correct in assuming that at max rpm the airflow is measured only be the MAF sensor since it is in open loop. During closed loop, the MAF cannot properly read the air mass when the flow is swirling around the wire pickup. That is my only reference.

We started selling a honeycomb screen 1/8 cell for the C6 Z06 due to the screen being removed by GM in the hopes of picking up another couple HP. As long as you kept the stock intake onboard, with the stock MAF and factory tune, it all came together and no lean codes for underreported air.

Once the VR or other intakes were introduced, the lean codes started appearing, even with our Venom first gen. We add the honeycomb to all Venom orders, and have done so for many years.

Good information. Thanks,.

At 86F your sweet High Octane tables start to take a hit from the IAT table. Add some knock count to that and you will start shifting from High Octane to Low Octane
tables. Want to keep your High Octane tables without sacrificing low pedal driving?

I've had Halltech's complete carbon fiber cold air induction system on my car the past six/seven years. During that time it has preformed flawlessly.

Hope Jim finds the mold.

As Halltech posted earlier, zero issue concerning water intrusion.

Drove nearly 500 miles in hard/driving rain. At the end of the drive there was but an insignificant amount of water in the engine bay.

Would the honeycombs be of any value for the LS3?
