Replacing 05 steering wheel with no controls to 2012 wheel with no controls. Anyone have the clock spring number for this? I can't find any searches for this swap, every one I looked at wanted to upgrade to some form of steering wheel controls. Thanks.
I got mine from Cultrag. I would as "irok" said give them a call.
I changed my 05 to a 2012 Centennial wheel. I THINK I used a 2007 clock spring and matched up the connectors (as they are different). Just remember ALL the instructions say to push in the two spring connections on the steering wheel to remove. The 2005 wheel has 4!
This is well worth the effort, IMHO it looks better and the wheel is smaller in diameter.
Simply did not like the look of the A4 shifter. Bought this one used online and had vette candy do the boot and handle in suede. I don’t power shift the car so the lower settings, under the “D” do not matter to me, lol. Very easy swap. If I remember correctly, I paid $170 shipped
Cultrag had that info on their site here on the forum at one time .If you contact them they may give up the p/n you need if you purchase from them
I found this old post from Cultrag:
Direct bolt on for all 2006 - 2013 Corvettes. If you do not have radio controls they will not function unless you custom wire them as some forum members have done. You can not add Bluetooth to a Corvette that was not originally equipped with it. If you have a 2005 and would like to change to one of these newer 3 spoke wheels you can do so but would need a new SIR coil and airbag. If you do not currently have radio controls you may need to swap the connector from your old wheel to plug into your current SIR coil or replace your SIR coil
So from what I read into this, if I do not want steering wheel controls, I can use the later models SIR coil and just plug and play?
You definitley will need a new clock spring and I don't think all years will work. From what I recall at that time Cultrag stated you will also need a new airbag for steering wheel. Some have been able to modify harness in steering wheel to get it to work.I don't think Cultrag will give you the part numbers unless you buy from them. There are several DIY threads here on the forum by 2005 owners that have done this job sucsessfully,You will just have to find them

After researching the forums, I found this part number 19153102. On Tasca website this clock spring is identified as early 07 without controls. I ordered this from vendor on Ebay. I will update when it arrives. I am thinking this will have the same black plug at the steering wheel as the 05. If not I will connect the black and brown horn wires in another manner.

Hope this helps you ...
What I did was to cut the old connector off the old clockspring leaving about 2 inches of wire. I stripped the 2 wires ~1/4 inch, tinned them with solder and they fit tightly into the connection of the new clock spring. Then folded the wires over the connection, zip tied, and covered in electric tape. Now the new clock spring will connect to the 2005 factory hardness. Yeah looks ugly but you can't see it and has never given me a problem in years.
