Default Ls7 cam install second guessing my self

First time doing heads and cam swap on an ls7. Prc head tsp cam, I lined up the dots and removed cam, removed 4 bolt on block to removed plate install cam all the way in with the pin on cam just sticking out when putting gears on the chain I notice I could not put it on with cam all the way in on the block so I pulled it out just a bit to install cam gear? Is this correct should the cam be pulled out a bit. the plate to hold the cam is on. I looked in the holes for the lifters and they are dead on lines up will the cam. Should it be seated in a different position? Will the cam gear move if cam is not installed correctly? Picture below is how I first installed it but gear would not go on till I moved it back? Picture is not my motor just for refere

When you put the cam gear on and tighten/torque the cam gear bolts, this will put the cam in the proper position.

Yes you have to pull it a bit it is normal
I did it on mine (it is a ls2) and 2000 kilometers after the install still no issue
As Spacemen1117 said when you will install the gear bolts the cam will find is position itself

Normal. I usually use the water pump bolts initially to get the cam gear lined up and cam pulled in the right position.
