The fan doesn't know what speed you are diving! My 05 stock settings were set to 0@194* and like 5% @ 203* Cant remember the exactly.... I can look it up if you need it.
My tuner with HPT was unable to change the fan speeds, I am able to with my HPT. I set the lowest turn on point (194) to 15% and put in a 165 stat. It now runs anywhere from 173 to 200 on hot days in traffic

[QUOTE=grpweld;1601378082]If you don't change to a lower# thermostat & you increase fan % at lower coolants temps the fan can be over worked & fail! T[/QUOT E]
I know, i wont change it too much. Add %5 percent or 10 and in lower degrees. Is it harmfull anyway?
For example, 192.2-%20,195.8 %30.....
This is the stock i think..

I got 2005 a4 ls2. If i reprogrammed my ecu to open the fans earlier with stock Tstat. Is it harmfull?
Wasting your time, hence engine with stock T stat is still going to want to run about 210*. Hence engine wants to run the oil at this temp to boil any humidity that has collected in the oil.
So with a 160* t stat, motor will run about 10* cooler as you are idling around town, but once you start to get on the motor, even with 160* t stat, motor is still going to come up to that 210+ temp instead.
So instead of over clocking the radiator fan to ramp up sooner, which just ends up melting the fan connector, the correct way if you are trying to keep the motor cooler across the board, is to install a dual fan system with its own PWM and change the OEM radiator to one that cools better to start with.
