I've been reading a lot about trunnion upgrades lately and I see a lot of people who go with the bushing style report less valvetrain noise. Have people who have gone with a needle bearing style also noticed less valvetrain noise? Thanks
PS: I know to stay away from comp, but there are some other companies that make what looks like good needle bearing style trunnions.
I’m in the middle of cam swap currently. I did the CHE trunnion upgrade. Waiting on new PRs before I can put it back together. I will update on trunnion noise after its running in the next few weeks.
Another type of needle bearing is still a needle bearing and may still end up falling into your engine.I use the CHE manganese bronze trunion bushings that are capable of carrying 300 times the weight of a needle bearing spread across a much larger area to prevent this issue. My valve train is whisper quiet.Good luck with whatever you choose.
i recently did a cam upgrade ( Texas speed stage 2 ). i did upgrade the lifters & springs but, kept the stock rockers.
these were very noisy at idle. just off idle they quieted down a lot.
after some other unrelated head work, i had the rockers switched to a trunnion bearing.
that made all the difference. their was no valvetrain noise.

I recently did ported heads/cam on my LS3 back in April and I went with BTR Kit. It's been great...I also have Johnson 2010 Lifters as well. At idle its very quiet and smooth.
I read a bunch of reviews on the various trunnion upgrade kits .... Seems like the bronze trunnion bushings hold up better than the steel trunnion bushings.
I know the CHE Precision trunnion upgrade uses the bronze bushings and has good reviews.

Also the Smith Bros / Straub trunnion upgrade also uses the bronze bushings . . . . . .

I had a trunion failure I thought my engine was knocking. This was a few years ago my c6 only had 50k miles when it failed . A must fo mod in my opinion you don't want little needle bearings in your engine . Only took about a hour to do.
