Default Z06 hesitation

Hello everyone. I'm a new member, so I hope i'm in the right place to ask for advice on the following: I have a 2007 Z06 with 45K mi on the odometer. I'm the 2nd and 4th owner (the third owner only owned it for a year). On short tours </= 2ish hours the car performs beautifully. However, on extended runs the engine starts to hesitate with fast accelerations (e.g., passing). It's as if a governor suddenly comes on so that nether the speed nor the rpms advance once the tach hits the 4-5K rpm range. Pressing the throttle harder doesn't do much. It happens in 2nd, third, 4th gears. For example, in 3rd it faltered at about 74 mph; shifting to fourth, it advanced to around 84mph before faltering again. The water and oil temps are constant regardless of run times. The dealer did a complete fuel system check and everything was well within specs. No misfire or other codes tripped. Has anyone experienced this phenomenon? Thank you for your help.

Best regards, kok

Clean the Maf sensor.

Also, with maf sensor in hand cleaning it, check the numbers on it, to see if its the one that is not the best to start with and needs to be replaced.

From here, check to make sure that the air filter is clean, and they you don't have any air leaks as the motor warms up.

Lastly, short of getting into TC (DIC will tell you if AH or TC is kicking it), would just pull history codes with a Tech II to make sure someone is not cropping up over and over again, like say a throttle pedal sensors that are not agreeing with each other, or bad connector on the TB that is having problems as the engine bay are warms up.
Note, key to problem is car getting on the hotter side from longer drives, and dealer may not be running the car long enough/hot enough to induce the problem themselves. So if something is wigging out at hotter temp like loose connector wire, it should at least leave a history code is something electronic.

It's peculiar that it occurs only after 2 hours of driving. Nonetheless, check that a hydrocarbon pad hasn't come loose and blocked the intake. They are glued inside the snorkel between the air filter and the throttle body.

Thank you folks for your advice. I will schedule the mechanic to check these things out. It's great to be a part of the forum. God bless!

If your mechanic is a good “diagnostician” he should know what to check !!...whether it’s a Honda or your Corvette they operate all the same !!
