I’m working on replacing all the Hot and ground wires on a c6 with an LS2. I can’t glean from wiring diagrams or otherwise where the stock alternator output wire goes. I’m assuming the fuse box, but the looming gets a little ambiguous behind the motor. Thanks!
I capped the stock alt wire, since I couldn’t figure out where it led. But if the stock routing is alt-starter, that should just make starting smoother and add some more positive redundancy.
I feel the pain on the alternator wire. I just replaced mine and routed #4 AWC behind motor and down to the starter post. The only way to get there was next to the cat converter. So I purchased heat insulator to protect the wire. The starter is located just barely an inch from the convertor so insulation is a must.
Or you can route it straight to the positive battery post. Electrically there is no difference I have been made aware of.

correct?
thanks!
A thicker gauge alternator wire doesn't do anything to help the OEM setup. Ground wires (heavy duty and multiple) definitely do...but not the charging wire. Hell, I have a HUGE stereo, battery, and a 290A alternator and I still run the OEM 8 gauge cable without issue. Run thick ground wires bro.
I did a big 3 upgrade. I left the existing wiring as is. Then added a heavy gauge wire from the Alt+ to the Batt+, and a heavy gauge wire from the Batt- to the passenger cylinder head. Also connected to two heads via a wire on the back back of them(this was probably overkill).
Stock wiring is already grounded to the engine block.
