Having trouble with my 2013 Grand Sport, auto. While cruising down the highway the car went into limp mode. I don't have a scan tool so when I saw the P2138 code on my reader I decided to replace the pedal assembly, not the fix. After reading here and elsewhere, I see that a common cause for this is the X184 connector being corroded. I can't find any info as to the location of this connector OR what it looks like. Just that it's a 40 pin connector.
Any help locating it...
In the cabin?
In the engine compartment?
Drivers or passenger side?
Color of the connector?
Is it a bulkhead connector? If so does it unplug from inside or out?
A picture would be awesome!
It and the C186 are between the oil tank and fender side wall on the passenger side.
On a wet sump motor, its the battery that is in the location, instead of the oil tank.
You may also look at the TB connector it is a 6 pin on the TB. They are also another source of the code. Make sure it goes on nice and tight (all the little copper connectors) and the wires aren't bent too bad etc. Mine ended up being a bad wire on mine and I had to get a pigtail to put on. They sell lots of them and are easy to find on line so that will give you a clue that this has been a problem.
Tech II on car, reading BCM data, look at throttle percentage, and throttle body percentages to see which one the BCM data is telling you is the problem. What you are looking for is smooth changes as you work both, and not drops in reading dead spots or no connectivity isntead.
Before replacing the parts , check the wiring connectors, since it a 50/50 shot that is a wiring problem and not a sensor problem isntead.
Sorry I didn't respond sooner but I "think" it s resolved. I did locate the X184 connector. on my Auto car it's right behind the battery. Battery must be removed. Took it apart, sprayed electrical contact cleaner on both ends, liberally, more than once. Once all back together I Started it and all seemed good. Check engine light gone. tried power braking to see if power was restored and the tires spun. Took it for a spin and made sure all was good and it seems fine. Didn't have dielectric grease for the seal, Bought some and when I get to it I'll take pics for others. Hipe this helps and good luck.
BTW, I replaced the pedal first, no help at all. I'd check the connector before opening the box. I have an extra pedal now...
I installed a new accelerator pedal assembly this morning
The check engine light is off and the car runs great. So far so good but I am not confident the problem is solved. I do not normally drive this car on the street but over the next few weeks I will have to get it on the street to see if the code returns.
Unfortunately I am going to skip a track day at Sebring this weekend to avoid the possibility it throws the code and ruins the day.
I do not have the position sensor pin outs identified so I could not check if the original sensor is faulty.
