Labor cost to install torque converter ?

I don't know for sure what the 'book labor hours' are for removal and replacement of the torque converter, but I am thinking that it's maybe between 8 to 10 hours.
Thanks ....

Anyway, the cheapest price I have received here in Florida has been $1,000 labor ... just seems kinda high
I just purchased a Circle D 258mm (3,000 stall) converter from the manufacturer that I need to have installed.
Stock head and cam 2011 GS with a 'Heartbeat' SC and headers ... 305/45 -17 ET Street S/S tires on the rear.

1) How much $$ was the HeartBeat S/C from which Vendor
2) What are your Horsepower Expectations with the Heartbeat ?
3) Is there No Cam Change Recommendation with the Heart Beat ??
4) Why did you choose that brand/model of convertor
5) Are you not capable of your own install labor.....or is it more
cost effective to work YOUR job and pay someone else
6) Will the Heartbeat S/C require a DYNO tune to recalibrate your ECU at what cost $$$
I have the Inferno Orange 12 G/S and interested in aftermarket
cam/kit with stock converter....but wanting education on everything.

1) How much $$ was the HeartBeat S/C from which Vendor
$7,500 from TPS Motorsports ... Received a $200 discount because I did not want to include the supplied tuner that normally comes with the SC kit (had it dyno tuned instead)
2) What are your Horsepower Expectations with the Heartbeat ?
545 RWHP (Stock head and cam engine)
3) Is there No Cam Change Recommendation with the Heart Beat ??
Sure I would make better use of the 'Heartbeat' SC with a cam change ... I just don't want to go inside the engine (reliability issue)
4) Why did you choose that brand/model of converter
Circle D has a good repetition for high quality converters, but I am sure that a Yank converter would be just as good.

I don't want to do a converter change using jack stands in my garage. I guess I could do it ... BTW, myself and my son in law installed the SC in my garage (he is an ASE Master Tech which helps)
To me, pulling out the converter really needs to be done with the car up in the air on a hoist ... At my age, I'm not going to attempt this while laying on my back with the car up on jack stands.
6) Will the Heartbeat S/C require a DYNO tune to recalibrate your ECU at what cost $$$
My car is now professionally tuned already ... I am hoping that I won't need any transmission re-calibration ... fingers crossed

and 3" Catted X-Pipe (kept my OE NPP Mufflers).
Tommy Wong (quite well regarded) used his MUSTANG Dyno and Years of experience to get 400 RWHP from my otherwise
stock 12 Grand Sport. I paid him $500 for the tune. Told me recently he would charge me another $4-500 if I installed a
Texas Speed or BTR cam..............

Although I can't swap converters as fast as Subfloor, the last time (my 4th on jackstands) probably took 20+ hours over a 10 day period last June, working in 100-110 degree AZ heat. Then again, I was only 77 at the time.
If you don't get a re-tune that includes transmission re-calibration, you'll be leaving too much value of the converter change on the table. Get the HP Tuners package and learn how to tweak it yourself with the help of HP Tuners online and forum members.

I have a better idea of what I'd be getting into
I do have a two post lift which is a GAME CHANGER......
Would I need to Borrow a Transmission Jack ??

Subfloor was the greatest help to me, since he sent me his install instructions, without which I would’ve been lost. The reason he can do it in 5 hours is because he knows exactly what needs to be done and what order to do things in, etc.
So, find yourself a good experienced installer, best case scenario is to find a shop that also knows how to tune the shift pressures and TCC in the 6L80 for a higher stall converter. Because it’s better to spend a little more now getting the job done right than go for the cheapest price and end up paying a much greater price to correct that mistake. For example, if your guy screws up and doesn’t seat the converter properly so it’s fully engaged into the pump, then that would have catastrophic results for your new converter and at least the pump on the trans.
