Why would you want to do this? If trying to bypass the LS7 Head issue, is it not Cheaper to have them Upgraded than a new motor

You have a few different options.

1) If the LS3 was from a dry sump setup (Manual trans Gran Sport) then it'll fit pretty much as is. You'd need to use the intake manifold and fuel rail from an LS3 but everything else will pretty much bolt up.

2) If the LS3 is from a wet sump setup, it can be converted by changing the crank to one from a dry sump LS3. You would still need to use the LS3 manifold and fuel rail.

3) If you don't feel like keeping your setup as a dry sump then you'd need everything from the LS3 (intake manifold, fuel rail, oil pump, front timing cover etc) and then either remove or block off the LS7 oil tank. You'd also need a dipstick since the LS7 doesn't have one in the side of the block.

In all 3 scenarios your external accessories (water pump, injectors, exhaust, motor mounts, sensors etc) would work.

In all scenarios you completely ruin the residual value of the car.
Might as well sell with a salvage title.

If you're crazy enough to replace a LS7 with a LS3, you probably don't know no one will want it. Instead upgrade the LS7

Default Further chat about LS7 swap for LS3 in a Z06

hello subfloor@centurytrans

would like to get connected to learn your experience of doing the swap. I’d like to do this to my 07 Z as the engine was being rebuilt but shop it was being worked on caught on fire. LS3 looks like the best option as I plan to keep the car indefinitely and don’t track it.

317-605-1742 to chat more. Thanks!
