2005 factory GPS / sound system flip screen , everything works just fine but when you push on the time spot in upper right hand corner to display the date , mine says Sept, 2001 ? car wasn't even built till 2005 , how do you change the month / day / year ?
I'm fairly certain that the GPS antenna will key in on a satellite and download the day/month/year. Then you simply have to set the time zone, etc for the corect time.
Your car has to be outside to get the signal for GPS.
If that doesn't work, then you may have an antenna issue. On your navigation screen, does the GPS icon have a red / through it? You may have to check to see if
the GPS antenna is plugged into the nav radio.

There is a new disc available from GM for the clock issues where you were not able to input the correct time and date after battery disconnect.
the nav. system must be working because it pinpoints on the screen where we are when I go to the nav. / gps screen
wonder why the year is 2001, car was not born until 2005 , but you know that would be way cool to have a time machine vette, I would be 52 again ,

The link I provided has the answer that you are looking fior.
Follow the directions, copy the file to a CD-R, insert in Nav Slot, and it will reset your system to the correct time, month and year,
so i guess the whole system has 2 places / time areas , because the Time is correct on the sound screen & i can change it , but the date / month-day-year must be off the gps signal , but funny thing is the gps is working fine

The Nav clock had an issue with the GPS earlier in 2019. It did not affect all vehicles, but after discomnnecting the main battery, the clock would disappear from the screen.
When it did come back by itself some time later, days, weeks or months, it would have the wrong year, which seems that what happened to your car.
Download tyhe Nav fix file on a CD-R and follow the directions. Read the link that was provided up a few posts on this thread.
That is the only thing that is going to solve your month / year issue.
just went out to look at it in the garage , the GPS Pinpointed my house / location, but has a red line / across the GPS , next time out of garage will see what the actual GPS does , the D/M/YEAR really are not a major issue , will have to actually test the GPS on a drive to location
