Default 2011 GS A/C not working

Hi folks, I've got a low mileage GS 8500 miles put the AC on for the first time this year and just hot air blowing out. Kept it on for 10-15 min with temp lowered to 60' and nothing. Any ideas?

You have a refrigerant leak in your AC system. If it's a small leak it can be simple to fix and recharge your system yourself. I've had good luck using AC Pro on other vehicles. It's simple to use, takes about 15 minutes, and costs about $30.

Watch this video:

If that doesn't work fixing the AC can get expensive fast. Good luck :-)

It could anything from low refrigerant to bad compressor and everything in between. If you're not knowledgeable with the system I'd let the experts deal with it and hope for the best.

Thanks folks, I’ve got an appointment with the shop tomorrow. Hopefully it just needs refrigerant, I’ve got go-fast parts to spend money on!

If your system needs refrigerant you have a leak that will have to be located and repaired. A stop gap measure is to use leak sealant if small leak is present. The problem with leak sealant is not being in service long enough to know any “side affects”.

System was leak tested using dye and UV light. No leaks were found. It was filled with refrigerant and all is well.

If refrigerant was added and no leak found that means your leak is in a place that can’t be easily seen such as the evaporator. Sometimes it’s cheaper to just add refrigerant periodically compared to the big picture of properly tracing and repairing/replacing costs.
