Default AKebeno Ceramic Brake pads Help

Help.
Which is the best model Ceramic Pad for a 2006 C6 with Z51. I know either the ACT731 or the ASP731 wil fit . Both provide low dust and quiet operation.. One (ASP) is called Ultra High Performance, The ACT is called Daily driver Performance. But I cannot find a difference in real world performance. Prices are close. I drive for pleasure cruising with occasional high speed runs when I can. Slower cold stopping initial reaction before the brakes heat up is not an issue for me.
Any and all thoughts are welcome and appreciated.

Hello Barrier,

I replaced factory pads with the ASP731's going on 9K miles ago (about 18 mos or so). They do not bite as hard as the factory pads. At first they seemed to dust more than I expected, however once they were on for +/- 500 miles - amazing how little dust they shed. Crazy actually. Most my driving is mountain roads and fairly spirited. I used to clean the dust from my wheels after every trip out (along with any bugs on front / mirrors). The wheel cleaning is next to never needed anymore. And NEVER a hint of a squeak.

Performance wise, they're adequate for spirited street driving. Not track pads of course. Overall, very pleased. Have the ACT pads on my V6 Camry SE (do like Akebono pads). Not sure it's a fair comparison, but the ASP perform better IMO and certainly endure more stress in my case.

Hope this helps.

Default ACEBENO Brake Pads

I asked this of ACEBENO
What is the difference between The ASP 731and the ACT731? Brake pads? Dust, noise and initial cold stopping ? This for a C6 Corvette.
Thank you
ACT731 is ProACT and ASP731 is Performance. The Performance pads have a higher coefficient of friction. This gives it a little better bite in the pedal feel. Both are ceramic and will not dust, make noise, or chew up your rotors. We do not recommend ceramic friction for any type of racing or track conditions.
This is the reply I received Today. Right to the point.
Quick, responsive Company.
Incidently I ordered them at Rock Auto, received Today.

If you don't mind loosing a touch of higher heat range, since your not going to be tracking the car, then Carbotech 1521's. Hence not going to give up initial grip, nor pedal feed back, and the pads will fully grab even bone colds, and will have way less dusting than the OEM HD pads.
Note, what you are giving up with the 1521's, is the slightly higher temp range of the OEM HD pads isntead.

Moving from there, get a pad that requires too much heat before it starts to grab, and will take twice of more of the distance before you can stop the car. Hence Z51 option cars where built for autocross from the start, so they got a HD pad that will fully bite stone cold, has great intial bite and pedal feed back, and since you can get the brakes temp up during autocross over just street driving, a pad that has increased working temp as well.

As for if you don't mind giving up the extra initial bite, the better pedal feed back, and even higher working temps of the OEM HD pads since you are just going to street cruse the car, then install a set of Duralast ceramic pads for around $100 for all 4 corners, and call it a done deal.
Hell, since the brakes are only going to work as the grip of the tires, if you are installing all season tires on the car, then just go with the Duralast pads as well.

So for street use, forget what the pad will work up to temp wise, and look at the temp that the pads need to start to bite hard in the first place.

I am with Dano on the carbotech 1521's. They are amazing for street use. I used Akebonos in the past, although they do not dust as much, i found them to be hard and noisy ( while braking due to hardness) requiring lot more pedal effort both cold and hot. Lot of people go cheap on a performance car that is supposed to go turn and stop, brakes are the last place to be frugal as you are constantly using it and your life depends on. ( and others lives too)
