My car is in for a cam install which I'm pretty excited for. But I've ran into some trouble with the tuning. I have a very reputable tuner not far from me who was originally supposed to do it, but he says he's booked up all the way through LS Fest in Sept which is way longer than I was originally quoted by my installer. No sweat, I understand these things happen. But I drive my car way too much for it to be down that long. Plus I'd like to take my car to LS Fest, too.
I've been researching remote tuning and it looks like it may be a good option for me since I'm just looking for a basic street tune. This car won't be on the track often, if ever, so I'm not looking for big power gains. I know Pat G is highly recommended for this kind of work but my understanding is I would need to have access to HP Tuners or similar software and I do not. I have found a few companies that do ECM tuning instead which wouldn't require any software and that looks to be the most cost-effective option. I read through old Forum threads and C6 Performance came up a few times, but I've found enough terrible reviews for them to scare me away. I've found another company PCM of North Carolina that I'm checking out, too.
Update: I reached out to PCM of NC, previously known as PCM for Less. Mark was super helpful! They do mail in tuning. It's super easy. Once my cam install is done, I just send them my PCM and all my specs and they get to work. They program it and get it back out either same day or next day - very quick turnaround. Then it's just plug and play when I get it back for only $260. If it isn't exactly how I want, a reflash is only $50. And the tune comes unlocked in case I want someone else to tune it later or go to a dealer for diagnostics for other issues. Sounds great! I'm only going Stage 2 and it's on a manual car so I'm not too worried about driveability issues. So I'm going to try it and see how it goes. I'll report back when it's all done!
I used PCM of NC for a basic calibration after I installed longtube headers. They were very responsive with the tune updates after I sent them data logs. I've got no complaints with them for what I paid.

Good news! Thanks. An excellent local turner now seems to think he can get my car done by the time I need it. We'll see. If that doesn't seem to be going well, I'm definitely going to order from these guys.
