Default Autocross/track tire sizes.

What is the widest tire I can fit on the front of a base C6 with factory wheels for autocross and still drive the car to events without rubbing? I don't really care about the rear tire sizes as there is plenty of information about that.

I'm a little upset about tire selection in general without squaring the wheels. You would think producers of sticky 200tw tire compounds would be all over Corvette sizes. I cannot get Hankook RS4s without buying rims (not happening until next season)... I don't plan on modifying the car for at least another season after this. I am plenty competitive for raw and pax times in an AS 'vette.

I smoke checked my Bridgestone potenza R71REs in a month. They were great tires for the first couple events but an event where I was able to put heat in the tires they ate themselves. This creates great concern for me when I go to do a fullsize track day. I know there are things I can do different to care for the tires but still feel they ate themselves too quickly. The other option I have is BF Goodrich Rival 1.5S. I liked the original rivals I had 6/7 years ago on a mustang but everybody and their mother is running the bridgestones now. Does anybody have experience running Rivals on their Corvette? My biggest concern is how the tire handles heat. I am a driver who can continue to improve or stay consistent with lap times on hot tires and I don't like the concept of backing off to save tires when I'm only going to get 20 mins at a time to drive or limited (if any) fun runs.

... anyway, what is the widest tire I can fit on the front of my C6 without rubbing?

Thanks!!!!

Hey moderators,

Can I please have my thread moved to the autocross/track forum? I don't want to type it up again and don't know how to do it myself. Thanks!

check out the supercar 3's from goodyear. I have done 3 track evenings with them and they still look good. I have 3 track days left and am confident they will last the rest of the season. THey are not as sticky as the RE71R but last better. They are also pretty inexpensive coming in at a price closer to the RS4's.

I have my reservations about goodyear being an active NASCAR fan my whole life.

I do more autocross events than anything and being right on the 200TW mark makes a difference at my experience level.

Thanks for the input!

If you insist on some hoosier-stones; the c6 base should be able to fit a 265 re71r on the front.

Si. I smoked my stones tho. I may buy another set and take more care, but I am also thinking about doing 275F/305R with the BF Goodrich rivals. They seem to not mind heat as much but not many people run them like 6-7 years ago. The 71s have a lot of hype and are at a good price point with more deals available but put some heat to them and they just eat themselves in my first experience.

Might try these. I used these sizes on a narrow body. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes

I've heard that a 305/35 19 fits on the rear with no issues. Have no idea if these fronts fit without issue. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes

For the price I'll have to pass on the yokohomas... what I've read their newest tire grips better than the potenza, but alas, no fatty 19in sizes *sigh*

Thanks!

Not recommending the tires, just stating that these two size combo's should work without driving the AH and TC nannies batsh!t crazy. There are more tire options available for the first sizes I mentioned and fewer for the second.

Word. I turn all that stuff off every time I drive the car. AutoX or not. This chassis is so well designed compared to my foxbodies and chargers and jeeps and pickup trucks I don't even notice it's off.... but I do notice when it's on... holy crap. Eff all that stuff, lemme drive the lady! 😉
