C6 6 speed auto - boot lock underneath ****
Ran into a problem which caused me to push the boot lock underneath the shift k-*** down. As I recall it was twisted while pushing down and it popped off the bottom of the k-***. I can't get it all the way back up. The shifter was replaced prior to my purchase, I have the old part, but the original one had a different and much easier locking mechanism, you can't turn it and it pushes up and snaps into place. On the new one there is a guided channel so you can't just push up directly with it aligned. I have to turn it counterclockwise to about a 45 degree angle, it easily slides up, leaving about another 1/8" to go. In that position it can't be turned anymore in either direction, the only direction appears to be a final push up to the base of the k-*** but it won't budge. Sure hoping somebody knows what I am talking about and has the secret recipe to get it back in place.

Thanks 4sumerz for that pdf. It seems the same but I am not getting the same sequence of events when trying to get it back up into place. Tried multiple times. Nonetheless looking at the pictures I see some similar characteristics and will try again.
