Default Decrease weight on my 2008 base and brakes system

Good day all
Im trying to decrease the weight of my c6 as much as possible, but within daily use
I start with changing the seats to sparco
Having weld wheels s76 17*11 rear 18*8 front
Is there another thing i can do
Moreover, whan can i do to have very light weight for my brake system? I search found that only TRZ have them

You may look at the Braille battery for say 15-18 pounds but you may give up some amp hour longevity when you leave stuff on etc. The exhaust say Corsa Extreme for 20 pounds but it may be a little louder then you like. Brakes you can just do the hats or go Brembo, Stoptech, AP Racing - expensive though. Headers might lighten things up a little. Not much else (that has some real weight loss) before you get into daily driving hinderances. You could go coil over I think there is some weight savings there.

+1 for post 2
That's best advise.
Battery, exhaust mufflers headers cats, rotors = maybe 40 to 80 lbs reduction.

The other removal or modifying options alter street use and could get expensive....coil over vs leave spring suspension, carpets, sound deadening, stereo speakers Onstar removal, windshield washer system, stuff in the trunk and glovebox, Z06 thinner windshield, plexiglass side and rear windows, hood and trunk support struts.

Good luck on your diet.

Ditto on can get expensive, since there is even weight lose by just changing out the rear latch assembly with assist pull down, to the older lighter Z06 latches that did not come with the pull down assist isntead.

An old friend used to say “to remove 100 lbs from a car look for 100 places to remove a single pound”

to add on some more stuff: Fuel rail covers are for show only - sound deadening under carpets can be removed - swap out runflats for non-runflats (have a patch kit or AAA handy tho) - plexi top is way lighter than painted top - swap out deck + bose system for a deck + regular speakers - and then after that, interior panels, carpet, rear hatch can be swapped to CF/lexan (very $ though)

Wanting to remove weight ... looks like your planning on drag racing.

Remove both front and rear sway bars ... Big weight savings, and you don't need them for drag racing.

BTW ... If you are not turning this C6 into a dedicated drag race car ... I would not strip the car down ... Leave it alone and spend the money and effort into parts that make more HP.

Just my opinion ..

You don't mention which brakes you currently have, so if they are J55's, you can swap to JL9's and save an instant 18# for just the rotors and another 2# for the brackets. If you drill the JL9 rotors to match the same pattern as the J55 rotors, it reduces the fronts by 1.5# each and the rears by .6# each. Since that is rotational weight, the effective weight reduction rate is 1.2 to 1, which is the same as saving 28.4# of static weight.

Speaking of rotational weight ratios, wheels factor at 1.6 to 1 and tires are 2 to 1. So when you head to the track (assuming you use JL9 rotors) swap out those welds and tires on the front for GTO spare wheels with 26" M&H bias ply front runners that are a total static weight of 52# for the pair (13# for each wheel and each tire) or an effective weight of 93.6#. Using Mich PS tires at 23# and a 20# wheel for comparison, the static weight is 86# for the pair and the effective weight is 156#.

Other swaps and the static weights are:
Base front cradle 36# vs Z06 cradle 24#
Z06 muffler 23# vs straight pipe 8#
OEM lugnuts 2# vs open end 1# per wheel
Solid top 24.4# vs clear top 20.4#
Front sway with links 12.5#
hatch shade & net 1#
Cubby lids 2#
Z51 Front sway with links 13.5# --- I would not recommend removing the rear sway for daily street use

I'm not even going over the full list that includes things like inner fenders, brake ducts, ash tray, lighter, front and rear emblems, door handles, or draining the w/w fluid.
