I just purchase an 06 low mile coupe with dual roof option. The painted roof had not had the recall until the dealer had it done before selling to me and was able to get a NOS one. That's in the trunk. The see through top is in place and I am unable to open the rear latch regardless of how much force I use. I could definitely snap it in half using just a bit more force than I've used up until now trying to free it. It will not budge! The front thumb latch moves freely. The main body of the latch is practically flush leaving no room even to slide a finger under. I was able to wedge something under just enough to get my fingers in and its so tight it is actually painful on the fingers. When I try to pull down there is no movement at all. I'm assuming something has broken and wedged the latch in the position. Has anyone ever run into this??

close it and re-pop it...mine hangs up a bit most of the time or can you not close it
have you tried the key?
I wasn’t very clear sorry. It’s not the trunk. It’s the latch on the removable clear targa top. The small button that usually allows the handle to spring forward moves freely but the handle remains jammed. Normally I think just that small button keeps it from springing open so now I don’t know what’s hanging it up. Without getting that unlatched there’s no taking the panel off. I’m going to look in daylight tomorrow to see if I can remove the decorative cover over the latch and just unbolt the latch from the panel. Then I can put the painted panel in and worry about fixing the clear panel latch another time.

with that button pushed in, push the other handle upwards too. if youre lucky the jammed portion will clear and it will spring free. If not, you probably should disassemble the handle portion.
Happened to me quite often on my 08, Just hold the button down and pull on the handle part until it clicks back in. Then lube it with grease or WD-40, I haven't had any issues since
