Default Does the RCDLR control the TPMS as well?

So lately I've been getting the dreaded 'no fob detected' message on the DIC however about a month or so ago, on the tire monitoring system I got xx's on 3 of the 4 sensors. I was just about to order a set of the TPMS's but started thinking. I'm just wondering if maybe I should start with a new RCDLR instead and maybe that would fix both issues at one time. (I usually don't get that lucky but....) Just wondering if both the fobs AND tips is controlled by the RCLDR.

Thanks for any info!

Yes, the RCDLR does handle both the FOBs and TPMS. Now you issue may be bad batteries in both the FOBs and TPMS sensors.
The TPMS sensors would have to be replaced since the battery is sealed in the sensor. Battery life for these is between 8 and 10 yrs.

If when you get the No FOB detected message you put the FOB in the glove box slot and all works, then it is the battery in the FOB. The FOBs take a 2032 lithium coin battery. This is a very popular battery type so you should be able to get it anywhere batteries are sold.

Find someone with a TPMS cloning tool, since you can use it to trigger the TPMS's themselves (don't have to put the car in to TPMS learn mode), to see if their batteries are still good or not.
Attachment 48333004

If you have a tech II, you can go into RCDLR data to pull up the battery strength of the batteries, as well as the strength of the Fob signals as well.

Once you now if the problem is the TPMS's/ Fob batteries, or problem with the RCDLR and it antenna's (4 of them), then you can figure out your plan of attack.

As for replacing the RCDLR, will need to flash it into the car with either TDS or Tis200, so it security key locks with the BCM,then the whole ordeal with programming the Fobs into it. Hence used to be a learn option check box in TDS that would put the new RCDLR into learn mode, so when you used the Tech II to program the fobs in, you only had the 10 min count down wait. It seems that that that option has been removed for the $40 for 2 years subscription option, so to get the RCDLR into learn mode now for the fobs, you still uses the Tech II, but have to go through 3-10 min count downs before the RCDLR is ready to learn Fob 1. Hence start the fob learn, press the starter button in the off postion, count down will start in the DIC for 10 mins (No fob detected will flash as well), and once the count down gets to zero, you have to press the starter button within 3 mins, to start the count down over again (and this a third time as well). After the third count down, then DIC will tell you to insert fob 1 (in the slot), will beep when it learns it, pull it out and press the unlock button, and then DIC will tell you to install fob 2, and so on for the amount of fobs you want to learn to the car (can learn up to 4, but only slot 1 and 2 will work with memory on the car. once you are done programming in all the fobs you want to add, then just hit off on the starter button to get you out of Rob programming mode.

Once you have the fobs programed so you can put the car into Acc mode finaly, then you use the fob to put the RCDLR into tpms mode, then use trigger tool to trigger the TPMS's one a time in the correct order, so the RCDLR learns them.

And when you go to flash in the new RCDLR, make sure to select replace and program. If you select to just flash, the new RCDLR will not be security key mated to the BCM, since TDS is thinking that it already is, and your just updating it's firmware alone.

And the last one, if you added a bunch of LED lights to the car, bank that they are putting out RFI, and that is what it blocking the TPMS and fob signals to the RCDLR. Hell, cell phone charging in the wrong place in the car or some radar detectors can block the signal from the fob to one of the antenna's, and since the RCDLR has to see the fob on two antennas so it know that the fob is in the car to allow it to start, could be the problem alone.
Note, only one one of the antennas has to pick up the fob to allow you to open the doors with them locked,

Thanks so much for the replies!!! I bought the VXDAIG VCX Nano and, looooong story short, it was ACTUALLY my fob batteries that were bad BOTH of them! I know that was mentioned to check, but I couldn't believe that BOTH would go bad at the EXACT same time!!! Oh well, at least now I have the Nano and a spare RCDLR Gonna order a set of the TPMS now.
Thanks again!
